What is continuous casting machine?

The production process of continuously casting high-temperature molten steel into billets with certain section shape and certain size is called continuous cast steel. The equipment required to complete this process is called continuous casting complete set of equipment. The electromechanical hydraulic integration of steel pouring equipment, caster body equipment, cutting area equipment, dummy bar collection and transportation equipment constitutes the core equipment of continuous cast steel, which is traditionally called continuous caster.

Technological process of bloom caster

The ladle containing refined molten steel is transported to the rotary table. After the rotary table rotates to the pouring position, the molten steel is injected into the tundish, and then the molten steel is distributed to each crystallizer by the water nozzle. Mold is one of the core equipment of continuous casting machine. It makes the casting form and solidify rapidly. The tension leveler and the crystallization vibration device work together to pull out the castings in the mold. After cooling and electromagnetic stirring, they are cut into slabs of a certain length.

The automatic control of continuous casting mainly includes the speed control of drawing roller of continuous casting machine, the vibration frequency control of mold, fixed length cutting control and other control technologies.

Production process of billet caster

The high-temperature molten steel is continuously poured into one or a group of water-cooled copper crystallizers, and the molten steel is gradually solidified into a billet shell along the periphery of the crystallizer. After the steel liquid level rises to a certain height and the billet shell solidifies to a certain thickness, the tension leveler pulls out the billet, and the billet is cooled by water spraying in the secondary cooling area to completely solidify the billet, which is cut to a fixed length by the cutting device according to the steel rolling requirements. This process of directly pouring high-temperature molten steel into billet is called continuous casting. Its appearance fundamentally changed the one-off rolling process of steel ingots, which has dominated for a century. Because it simplifies the production process, improves the production efficiency and metal yield, saves energy consumption, greatly reduces the production cost and good billet quality, it has developed rapidly. At present, the equipment of continuous caster is almost inevitable in steelmaking enterprises, whether it is long process steelmaking or short process steelmaking.
