Water-cooled cable is a new type of cable, which is mainly characterized by hollow water. It is generally a special cable used in high current heating equipment for medium frequency and power frequency high current transmission. It is usually composed of outer protective sleeve, conductor and electrode, that is, cable head.

Principle of water-cooled power cable

Its main feature is that the center of the cable core is an empty core metal conductor, so the hollow water has an obvious cooling effect. Because the current passing through the cable is too large, resulting in too high heating capacity, water is needed to cool this section of cable, which generally refers to the connecting cable from the capacitor cabinet to the induction coil.

The rubber tube surrounding the conductor, the conductor, the central cooling water pipe, the shielding layer, the thermal insulation layer and the metal outer layer are sleeved layer by layer. Due to the good water-cooling effect, the current density of water-cooling cable can reach 4A / mm ² About, twice the allowable current density of bare flexible cable. The current carrying capacity is large, but the temperature rise is low and the mechanical strength is high, so the operation safety factor is greatly improved. For ordinary water-cooled cable, the electrode is welded with copper pipe and copper bar, which is not closely connected with the equipment. The conductor is made of bare copper wire with large bending radius. The external protection sleeve uses ordinary rubber hose with low pressure resistance. The sleeve and electrode are fastened with ordinary clamps. The sealing is not very good and it is easy to leak. Therefore, do not use water-cooled cables with poor quality.

For high-quality water-cooled cable, the electrode is turned and milled with integral copper bar, and the surface is passivated or tinned. The conductor is tinned copper stranded wire or enamelled wire, which is woven by CNC winding machine, with small bending radius and high flexibility. The outer protective sleeve is a synthetic rubber pipe with reinforced cloth layer, with high pressure resistance. A red copper clamp is used between the sleeve and the electrode, which is fastened by cold extrusion of professional equipment, has good sealing performance and is not easy to leak. Therefore, it is safer to use high-quality water-cooled cables.
