Tapping Spout EAF Furnace

Product Description

Tapping Spout Electric Arc Furnace (EAF)

The Tapping Spout Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) is a high-performance steelmaking system designed for efficient melting, precise temperature control, and stable metallurgical refining. It is widely used in the production of carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy steel with flexible capacity configurations.

The furnace integrates advanced electrical, hydraulic, and cooling technologies to ensure reliable operation, high productivity, and optimized energy consumption.

Key Advantages

       •Optimized Furnace Design

Elevated and integrated structure ensures compact layout, stable operation, and reduced maintenance downtime.

       •Flexible Charging System
Swing-off roof design allows efficient top charging and easy access for maintenance.

       •Efficient Power Transmission
Copper–steel composite conductive arms provide excellent conductivity with improved mechanical strength and long service life.

       •Stable Tapping System
        Separate slag and steel outlets:

              •Short spout for slag discharge

•Long tapping spout for clean and controlled molten steel tapping

       •High Productivity Operation
Short melting cycle and optimized energy input ensure high throughput and reduced tap-to-tap time.

Main Equipment Composition

        The system is composed of:

•Tilting furnace body & shell assembly

       •Water-cooled furnace roof

       •Roof swing & lifting mechanism

       •Electrode lifting and regulation system

       •High-current conduction system

       •Cooling water circulation system

       •Hydraulic actuation system

Metallurgical Process Features

The furnace roof swings open for safe and efficient charging operations. After charging, electrodes are lowered to initiate arc heating and melting.

During the melting phase, oxygen injection can be applied to enhance decarburization and impurity removal, improving steel cleanliness and refining efficiency.

The typical smelting cycle ranges from 90 to 250 minutes, depending on furnace capacity, transformer power, and process conditions.

Once the molten steel reaches the required composition and a temperature of approximately 1600–1700°C, it is discharged through the tapping spout for downstream refining or casting.
